Accessories

Last night I went to cover the kids before I hit the hay. I find Annika is generally smooshed way under the covers, sheets smashed at the end of the bed, I am wondering how she breathes....kinda like her father. Tryn is tidy when she sleeps: covers up to chin along with sheets, head on the pillow, sans me. Tristan is splayed everywhere with covers optional. My favorite is when he has his arms tucked up under his head as if he is relaxing on the beach. Gideon is the rogue element (of course) generally his shirt is no where to be found and he is sleeping somewhere in Tristan's bed and has to be moved.
But I digress. What I had to laugh about was Annika's pink sparkle headband placed carefully next to her pillow. She LOVES her accessories. Sticker earrings, purses (really, she has a toy bin just for purses), necklaces, new Timex watch from Goodwill, etc, etc. Considering my woeful inability to accessorize it really cracks me up that she has such a defined excess of style. This is the kid who remembers to bring her purse everywhere. Note: I did not carry a purse until I was married? But her sparkle headband has barely left her head for a single day since her dad gave it to her for her Christmas outfit. A single day. It just dawned on me that she is perfectly capable of guarding that with her life, so I have to up the anty on taking care of other things like stuff I ask her to put away that ends up on a table or doorway of another room. If she can track that headband for three months she certainly can get some other things in the right spot!
Annika gets a bad rap for being spacey or distractable, but it is all relative. Buy gum, stick it in purse. Three days later, "Mom, do you have some gum I could have?" The kid has an amazing memory for certain things: treats, her special things, promises of treats. Hmmm. Better work on the Bible memory too.

I love my Christmas camera. It makes me want to blog.
Cheerio. Here's hoping spring has sprung.
